Harry Potter and the Dark Side
Okay, so on Sunday,
johnabe and I went to go see Star Wars. Oh, the Star Wars-ness! The Ewan-ness! It was just as I imagined and hoped it would be. It was slightly sad to think that all of the Star Wars saga is over, but I still left the theater riding on a little Obi-Wan Kenobi high. While the overall action and adventure amused me, the highlight of the movie was still Obi-(e)Wan. I think John said it best when he described one of Obi-Wan's last speeches as: "It was amazing how his voice got all rough and hoarse like he was going to cry, but then you watch as he pulls himself back into anger... and all in one sentence!" So true. So true. "The Island" comes out in a week and a half. Eeee!
In other news, in case you've been living in a hole, Harry Potter comes out on Saturday and I am SO EXCITED. I've got a copy of the U.K. version on reserve for me at the local Kinokuniya, and am planning to do nothing all day. (Yes, I plan on reading it in one day; I did it last time, and I don't see why this should be any different.)
Anyway, in preparation, I've been rereading "Order of the Pheonix". I realized that I've actually only read it once (probably because I only own the hardcover version, which isn't very travel-sized), and it's always fascinating to reread books once you've finished. I'm not very far, so I'll have to pick up the speed to finish by Saturday, but about 10 pages in I came to the following conclusion: Harry Potter is sliding to the dark side. I really don't know why I didn't pick up on it instantly the first time through; I only remember thinking to myself, "Harry's such an idiot. Teenaged boys are morons." But it's very obvious the second time around that Harry is unnaturally angry, even for his stupid teenaged self. Which can only lead to the conclusion that he is being manipulated by the Sith lord's mind tricks to walk the path of the dark side.
In any case, don't even both with me on Saturday. I'll be busy. Trust me.
