I fought the whisk and the whisk won

Banana Pancakes: 3
Minako-chan: 1

Long story short, it took me two tries to make whole wheat banana pancakes this weekend. The first try was a disaster that cost me an hour of prep/shopping time, melted the edge of my spatula (as I tried to scrape one glutenous mess from the pan), and shattered a glass (my whisk apparently has a handle like a brick that can cause serious bodily/glassware-ily injury when dropped). Luckily, I managed to fix the recipe by Sunday and I emerged triumphant. Revenge has never tasted so sweet. Or banana-y.

Where in the world did you get *anything* whole wheat in Japan? I had to pester my grocery store for years until they started stocking non-fat milk on a regular basis. Seems they aren't all that much into health foods over here.

Well, it was super un-refined wheat flour, and probably works better for, say, breading than baking, which was why I had to adjust the recipe a bit. Luckily my grocery store has always carried non-fat milk; I cheered when I finally figured that one out.

Hehe. At least you knew enough Japanese when you got here to not make the 飲むヨーグルト mistake! ~__^ That did NOT make the cornflakes taste good.
